Textbook Pinot colour, bright-red and transparent. There is an airy nose of Mediterranean dried herbs and spice notes with subtle forest floor and some wildflower aromas, all making up the complex yet refined flavour profile that follows through on the palate. This wine has already immediate appeal; seamless, complex, seductive and understated at the same time, and it finishes with very fine, persistent tannins.  This is Pinot Noir for those who appreciate the fine and delicate details that speak more of the wine’s terroir than the grape variety. As such it is more about a sense of place than fruit expression.

It's seductively expressed on the nose showing dark berry, thyme, smoked game, dried mushroom and roasted nut aromas, followed by a beautifully weighted palate that's finely flowing and elegantly textured. Fabulous bouquet, innocent purity of fruit and floral intrigue. Aromas of red cherry and strawberry fruits, a layer of wild raspberry and plum then a gentle savoury spice and core of earthy clay and stone. Dry, taut, finely textured, pure of fruit and power. On the second and third tastes the impact of less and tannins then acidity introduce the taut textured power framing the fruit and wine overall. Lengthy, very new and needing cellar time. Best drinking from 2029 through 2038+.

In the Fromm Vineyard near Renwick, in the heart of the Wairau Valley, many clones of Pinot Noir are close-planted on a flat site with alluvial topsoils overlying layers of clay and free-draining gravels.  The distinctive 2020 vintage (*****) was fermented with indigenous yeasts, matured for 15 months in seasoned oak barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Certified organic, it is ruby hued, with moderately developed colour.  Mouthfilling, savoury and sweet-fruited, it has gentle acidity and concentrated, cherryish, spicy, nutty flavours, showing excellent complexity.  A 'masculine' style of Pinot Noir (meaning sturdy and firmly structured), it's probably approaching its peak; drink now-2030.

Beautiful, dark Pinot colour, nice density but still positively transparent. The nose opens with dark red fruit aromas, lifted by some primary, floral sweetness, combined with forest floor underbrush notes and a subtle hint of tar, typical for this terroir.

Our FROMM Pinot Noir Fromm Vineyard reflects over a quarter of a century of farming our patch of land just west of Renwick. It’s grown, not ‘made’, and represents a style of Pinot that we love …elegant and subtle with complexity and
structure.

This 2017 has an alluring nose, opening with charming bright fruit, sweet spice and inviting florals – all wrapped in lifting minerality. The palate shows effortless structure, supported by ripe red fruit and fine persistent tannins that flow across
the mouth. The acidity is balance and conducive to a long elegant finish.

Made from the best fruit that our ‘Home Vineyard’ offers, this Pinot opens with pretty dark red fruits and alluring violet florals, before unravelling to reveal lifted spice and more than a hint of earthy minerality. The palate shows a wonderful sense of detail with pure mineral driven flavours and fine persistent tannins.
